Da Hong Pao (Big Red Robe)
“Warm crackling fires & an empty barn on a day when it’s too cold to ride the horses and a layer of snow-crust crunches under boots.” That’s the poetic description given by one of our wonderful customers upon first encountering this phenomenal tea.
Da Hong Pao – also known as Big Red Robe – is a king amongst teas. A Wuyi Rock tea and one of the Ten Famous Teas of China, it is a heavily roasted oolong tea that gives an intensely satisfying experience.
Wood, smoke and sweet with cacao, coffee, vanilla & yellow plum, with a long coffee last on the palate.
Full bodied and full of depth.
This tea is aged 5 years. Da Hong Pao is one of many teas that can improve with age, and this is certainly one of them!

Preparing Da Hong Pao:
Pot
Add 2 heaped teaspoons per cup (that’s around 4-6 grams) and pour on 95°C water - just off the boil.
Infuse the tea for 1 – 2 minutes and enjoy.
Re-infuse 3 – 4 times.
Don’t forget, you can adjust any of the measurements to suit your style!
Gaiwan / Gongfu
5g tea with 120g water just off the boil (~90C).
Expect multiple steeps with the following rough steep times: 10s, 30s, 60s, 120s, 180s
